Spirito has just launched a new Monday Music night featuring a live 3 piece band named Mozaik. Take the lift up to level 9 inside Media One Hotel then follow the music which will lead you straight into what feels like an Argentinian street party. Mis-matched chairs and furniture, street art plastering one of the walls, gorgeous low hanging chandeliers, which placed in any other restaurant would look out of place but somehow just work.
As soon as we were seated the waitress came by to take our drinks order. My friend and I both ordered sangria and not long after our sharing platter arrived. It had a variety of deep fried items including some super tasty beef empanadas and deep fried bananas to a bowl of mixed olives and chilli prawns to chicken skewers, to fried calamari and a rather refreshing zingy citrus salad which I think the waitress said was crab but I couldn’t be sure as we both struggled to hear her over the music.
The singer from Mozaik personally came and introduced herself before taking to the stage. The energy and spirit Mozaik give out is contagious and they are the perfect choice for a South American style restaurant. Even though I couldn’t understand a word she was singing she still managed to engage the audience with her presence and magnificent voice.
The timing of the event is quite late starting at 9:30pm until 11:30pm. For me, my alarm goes off at 5:30am every morning so unfortunately I couldn’t stay until it finished. If only they had the same thing on the weekends I could see it being packed until close.
If you love live music and are fond of South American cuisine, head down to Spirito on a Monday evening. You won’t be disappointed.
