Tucked away in the Nasima Royal Hotel on SZR is a delight to be found. Tre restaurant, lounge and bar covers 3 floors 49, 50 and 51 respectively each with their own charm.
I was invited for a bloggers event which started with some drinks and canapes in the Tre lounge on level 50. We were served some gorgeous hors d’oeuvres whilst we took the opportunity to mingle with fellow bloggers and take some happy snaps before we were led to the restaurant on the 49th floor.
We were already impressed by the views of Sheikh Zayed Road and then we reached our dining table, so long and grand that even Belle from Beauty and the Beast would be jealous. Tall stemmed candelabras provides sensual mood lighting whilst the mirrored roof echoes the grand set up of our table. Then came the food.
Octopus salad, beautifully presented and a well balanced dish.
An aubergine parmigiana which left you wanting more.
A light beetroot and orange mixed leaf salad topped with flower petals.
The favorite among the bloggers – burrata cheese served with wedges of figs and a combination of red and black tomatoes.
A mediocre magherita pizza.
We were each served a selection of pasta/rice as our entree. Giant pacchero pasta shells with a duck ragout, a ricotta and spinach ravioli with white truffle sauce, (a favorite of mine even though the pasta was a little too under-cooked the flavor was still impressive) as well as a porcini mushroom risotto. All sample sizes to leave room for the mains and desserts.
The mains arrived in a fashionable mannor, first up was a pan seared salmon with crispy skin served on a bed of green vegetables.
The highlight of the evening for me was the medium rare Wagyu strip loin served in mouth watering bite size pieces garnished with cherry roasted tomatoes, rocket and parmesan shavings. It was well accompanied by the full bodied red wine served with dinner.
The dessert, a selection of Italian favorites including a panacotta and cannoli rolls were consumed in the Tre bar on the 51st floor where Angel the live jazz singer entertained the small crowd with her sultry voice alluring the patrons along with a very talented pianist named Alistair. We ordered a night cap and a few of us even got up for a boogie.
It truly was a splendid evening with fellow foodies. Although I wasn’t wowed by the desserts I’ll be going back just for the burrata cheese and the steak.
