Brilliant BOCA’s new Monday Wine Cellar Dinner

There are so many gems in Dubai especially in the DIFC area. BOCA is definitely one of them with their hidden wine cellar being one that most people wouldn’t know about.

Boca has recently started a monthly wine cellar dinner where guests are taken on a journey through one of the many regions of either France, Italy or Spain via fine wines paired with cheeses and tapas plates.
The wine cellar is an intimate dining setting which can also be hired out for small private functions and creates a cosy ambiance with the dimmed lighting from the metallic hanging pendants.

Our sommelier for the night was a lovely lady named Sophia who was so knowledgeable about wine she would put my Dad to shame.Being my first time at a wine tasting, Sophia talked us through the steps which include looking at the color of the wine, then the tears by swilling the glass in a circle, followed by sniffing the wine to find which fruits and grapes are in the aroma followed by the taste and finally the aftertaste.
We tried four different wines, one white, a rose and two reds from the South of France from the regions of Languedoc – Roussillon and Provence.

Whilst Sophia talked us through each one and made us guess the fragrant aromas, we were served a generous portion of amazingly presented tapas and fine cheeses.

Being more of a foodie than a wine connoisseur I was so impressed by the array of tapas, ranging from cold cuts including beef salami and beef bresaola to beef tartare served on crisp crackers. There was also bowls of green fried padron sweet chili peppers which are addictive, a tasty cheese platter and some hot appetizers including beef ham, potato and cheese croquetas, pulled bbq chicken sliders and caprese bruschetta all served on either wooden or slate boards.
Two of my favorite wines from the evening was a rose which was a light floral wine with a soft pink color and peach and orange blossom tones. A refreshing wine which would be perfect for a picnic. The other favorite being a fuller bodied red with hints of dark berries and plums. A very elegant but mellow drop.
Overall I had fantastic evening learning about wine, with such great company. If you’re interested in learning more and attending Boca’s Monday Wine Cellar Dinner then check out the details below to make your reservations.
